Job description
We currently have a full-time position available for a Trailer Mechanic at our Salisbury location.
The Trailer Mechanic will be responsible for the repair, maintenance, inspection, and servicing of large commercial trailers in a busy heavy-duty repair environment. This is a physically demanding position requiring heavy lifting, frequent bending, and working in tight spaces. The successful candidate will take pride in their work and be committed to safety, quality, and customer service.
Responsibilities and requirements:
- Repair and replace trailer components, including brakes, body, bearings, suspension systems, and electrical systems
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and air brake systems to identify faults and determine required repairs
- Inspect and test trailer systems to locate faults and malfunctions
- Test and adjust repaired systems according to manufacturer specifications and safety standards
- Perform scheduled maintenance and preventative service
- Complete work orders and reports accurately, documenting problems, repairs, and work performed
- Review work orders and communicate with Service Advisors regarding required repairs and work completed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment
- Follow all company health and safety procedures
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a trailer, truck, automotive, or heavy-duty mechanic
- Previous commercial trailer or dealership experience is considered an asset
- Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic skills
- Knowledge of trailer brake, body, suspension, electrical, and air systems
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Valid driver’s license
- Commitment to workplace safety and continuous learning
Schedule:
- 9-hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Possible overtime
